CBC opens new wrestling center

An opening ceremony for the new CBC Wrestling Center was held at 2 p.m. Sept. 15, with President Terry Kimbrow, head coach Ken Prophete and program donor Greg Hatcher speaking.

“This building has long been talked about, but it was only two years ago that real planning started to happen,” Prophete said.

He also spoke about Hatcher and his contribution to the team in helping them provide the wrestling center.

“With God’s grace, we had the right person in line to help us,” said Prophete.

The students in the wrestling program found out about the building last Christmas break and said they are excited for the upcoming season.

“It’s the same team and we still have the same goals,” said co-captain Francisco Joseph. “We are just in a different environment is all.”

Junior Devin Senior spoke about the impact that the new center will have on the team.

“It will make us a better team,” Senior said. “There is more room to practice and competition will be fiercer.”

The first home meet will be on Thursday, Nov. 9 at the Reddin Fieldhouse.
