The CBC campus was shut down at 10:36 a.m. The police were looking for a gunman near campus. A campus alert was sent out via text at that time.

“Chris Mitchell, the director of campus safety, got a notification that there was a man with a gun and we wanted to take safety precautions as soon as we heard about it,” said Rachel Steele, associate vice pesident for student services.

The Conway Police Department gave a statement at 11:45 a.m. through Twitter about the situation.

“We did get a call reporting that a man walking down the street said he was going to get into a shooting but the person reporting did not see a gun. CPD [Conway Police Department] went the area and did not find anyone. As a precaution CBC went into lockdown.”
