Campus mourns loss of former student

Austin Craig Patterson, or as most of us knew him, Patt, passed away in a car accident on December 4 at the age of 20. Austin graduated from Greenbrier High School and attended Central Baptist College during the fall of 2016. He had recently gone on to join the Arkansas National Guard.

Patt is remembered as someone who brought constant joy to those around him. His spirit was infectious and anyone who came into contact with him was better for having met him.

Austin was like a human stress reliever,” said sophomore Hunter Crass. “I always loved hanging out with him because I knew he could make my day better. There was never a dull moment when he was around.”

For the people that knew him, “Patt” is synonymous with love, laughter and constant smiles.

“When I hear his name, I think of his kind heart, bright smile and goofy self,” said sophomore Katherine Fitts. “He always knew how to make everyone laugh, especially with his off-key singing and endless dancing.”

Whether in the classroom or on the soccer field, he changed so many lives with his fierce loyalty and unending love.

“He taught me what it looked like to love others and love them well,” said sophomore Kady Johnson. “He was one of my best friends and like family. Although his time on earth was short, he made a lasting impact on everyone he came across.”
