This year the Rotaract Club will be hosting their third annual Operation Christmas Child project. The project is hosted through the Samaritan’s Purse and their mission is to follow the example of Christ by helping those in need while sharing the gospel.
The goal of Operation Christmas Child is to send shoeboxes off to a place full of poverty to children of all ages. In those boxes they will receive toys, school supplies, hygiene items and the opportunity to learn the gospel.
Today, those items may seem little to us, but according to Samaritan’s Purse they are seen as “gifts.” Due to Operation Christmas Child, some children are finally able to go to school because they got school supplies in their boxes.
One thing that is encouraged when making the decision to give is to pray for your box so that God may use your gift to show His love. Also, Project Christmas Child requires a $7 donation to help pay for the transport of the gift and delivery to the child. Donations can be made by check to Samaritan’s Purse or online at samaritanspurse.org.
Located on Harkrider there is a ministry center called The GO Store. The GO Store is a location where you can find items for your shoeboxes at a discounted price.
